The 3rd Annual America's Next Top Catholic Hipster City

Welcome one and all to our 3rd Annual America's Next Top Catholic Hipster City!

We are ready to see which city should join the ranks of Cincinnati and St. Louis, the winners in 2015 and 2016 respectively.

And so, without further ado, here are the nominees for the 2017 #ANTCHC Award!

Nashville, TN is not only a total Catholic Hipster city, but pretty much one of the most up and coming hipster cities in general right now. David Choby is the current Bishop, appointed by Benedict XVI, and he sports the motto "That we may live". To solidify their hipster status, check out Catholic Nashville on Facebook. They describe themselves as grassroots community of hip and holy Catholic young adults in the diocese, and I'm guessing they are going to be able to pull a grip of votes for their hometown.

Keep Catholic Austin weird! Not only is Austin the home of one of the coolest music scenes in the nation, but it's also home to some of the coolest Catholics in the nation! Bishop Joe Vasquez leads the ship, appointed by Benedict XVI, and has grown the diocese to 500,000 Catholics (twice what it was two decades ago). The population of Catholics in the diocese is expected double again in the next 15-20 years, so we're pretty much taking the place over. Also, Jen Fulwiler...

It's hot as heck, but it's just as hip. Phoenix is led by Bishop Thomas Olmsted, who grabbed a doctorate degree in Canon Law summa cum laude from the Pontifical Gregorian University, and is one of the premier spots in the country for Catholic Cool. Olmsted doesn't shy away from the news, by the way. He excommunicated Sister Margaret McBride for permitting an abortion at St. Joseph's Catholic hospital, he came out against an Arizona proposition that he felt would instill fear in immigrants, and he stood up against Notre Dame inviting President Obama to speak. As a result of all of this, Phoenix is boiling over with Catholic Cool.

Okay, I know...Vancouver (BC) is actually a Canadian city, and this is supposed to be an American competition, but I guess that's what makes this nomination so darn hipster! Not only is it home to Archbishop John Michael Miller, a prolific author and lover of Catholic schools, but it's also home to the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, which is just out of this world beautiful. But, don't you think it deserves a vote just for being ironic in this typically All-American contest?

So, there you have our four nominees!

Head on over to Twitter now to cast your vote and share your thoughts on why you voted for your favorite city with the hashtag #ANTCHC!

Then, it'll be time to pack your bags and move your whole darn Catholic Hipster family to wherever wins!!

Have fun!
