The Pope on Trump's Win

Pope Francis and the Vatican in general have shared very little regarding their thoughts on President-Elect Trump since the results came in, but we wanted to make sure to let you know what we have heard so far

Pope Francis took to Twitter in what many are seeing as a direct comment on the outcome of our Nation's elections:

"May we make God’s merciful love ever more evident in our world through dialogue, mutual acceptance and fraternal cooperation."

Cardinal Pietro Parolin also took to Vatican Radio following the news of the Trump victory:

First of all, we take note with respect the will of the American people in this exercise of democracy which they tell me was characterized by a large turnout. Then we congratulate the new president, so that his government can be truly fruitful. There is need for everyone to work to change the global situation, which is in a situation of severe lacerations and great conflict.”

I think we are all eagerly awaiting the next time the Pope has a chance to go off script, because I'm guessing he'll definitely share more of his opinion on this whole situation.
