Ready? Set? Go!

The mantilla has been creeping up the Catholic Hipster Must-Have List for quite some time, but we're finally ready to officially add it. We've been seeing more and more hipsters sound off on Twitter about their interest in rocking the mantilla, and it seems as though you still have time to hop on board before it becomes cool!

Few things in our Catholic faith are more under appreciated and misunderstood than the Mass. Despite participating in Mass since our birth, we can often fall into the routine of attending week after week without really getting that Heaven is literally touching down on Earth! The Mass Explained app is a game changer. This app helps foster an understanding of the Mass like never before, and seems to be the perfect way to help teenagers (and us less-than-perfectly-catechized adults) finally see what is happening right before their very eyes. Click here to check it out!

Maria Johnson's Badass Book of Saints is exactly the saint book that we all needed. So often we allow the saints that surround us to become these untouchable figures, merely statues in our Churches and Holy Cards in our pockets. In her book on courageous women who achieved the Beatific Vision, Maria Johnson shows us that saints are actually a lot more like us that we ever realized before. And, she shows how being really and truly Catholic is totally bad ass. Click here to check it out!

The hippest virtue of 2015 has been charity! Thanks to the shining example of Pope Francis, we are all being asked to push forward with our love of others, our other-centered focus, and our selflessness. By his example, we are being encouraged to move closer and closer to being more like Jesus. And, the virtue of charity also helps us flow into increase other important virtues like kindness, humility, and patience. Three cheers for charity!

Earlier this year, there was a Twitter storm over the idea that St. Therese of Lisieux's pictures from back in the day were too "worldly." I believe the actual tweet that started it all lamented the fact that she had a "worldly gaze." This blew up on Catholic social media, and became the latest craze in the Catholic catch-phrase department. Everyone started  making fun of the idea of being "too worldly," and I still enjoy using the term to make people feel awkward...

Para-cord Rosaries are all the rage right now. Every Catholic out there who carries a Rosary in their pocket wishes they could have one that was a tad more durable. Now their dreams have come true! The fine folks at Rugged Rosaries have the hook up with some seriously awesome and durable Rosaries. Check them out, and just try and see if you can break one with your fervent prayer.

So, there you have it! The complete 2015 Catholic Hipster Checklist!!
