Today's Feast is Brought to you by the Letter X

Happy Feast of St. Andrew!

Time to break out all the "X-Themed Decorations!"

St. Andrew was one of the Apostles, and the younger brother of St. Peter. The name "Andrew" means brave and manly, and oddly enough, there is no Hebrew or Aramaic name recorded for him.

He was martyred by crucifixion on what is known as a "Crux Decussata," or an "X-Shaped Cross."

This happened at Andrew's own request, feeling unworthy to die in the same manner as Jesus.

His relics have been a sign of the growth toward communion between the Western and Eastern Churches, and through his intercession may we one day be joined again.

St. Andrew, pray for us!
