Simcha Fisher is Simply the Best...

Anyone who reads this little ol' weblog knows that I frequently concern myself with pleas for normalcy and balance in the Catholic World, and especially the Catholic Media World.

I have tried my best to explain the importance of preventing every Catholic blog post from being about "always being joyful and positive, even when the kids are driving you nuts," "NFP being the best, flowery-est, most beautiful thing in the world," "Confession always feeling amazing, like a weight has been lifted off of your shoulders," etc.

While all of these things are true, they aren't always true, and we Catholics need to do a better job at balancing our message .

The last thing we need, is a bunch of converts who came over to the dark side, because of our infectious smile and the promise of the constant happiness and heavenly feeling associated with having fourteen kids, only to be disappointed by the reality.

What we need is a bunch of converts who come over to the dark side because they realize that being Catholic is joyful in spite of the fact that it is also difficult from time to time.

While I try to get this message across, Simcha Fisher succeeds at getting this message across every time she takes to the keyboard. She delivers this message with such clarity and ease, and comes out providing a meaningful way of moving forward, rather than my (pretty much constant) complaining about how weird and annoying we can be.

With that in mind, I want to share Simcha's latest post.

It's great, and you should definitely give it a read.
