Obscure Saint of the Day: St. Joannicus of Mt. Olympus

Mount Olympus, a home for the gods.

Well, today we celebrate a Catholic Saint who rocked Mount Olympus with some Catholic love!

Happy Feast of St. Joannicus of Mount Olympus!

A hermit, a prophet, and a miracle worker who defied the Byzantine Emperor, St. Joannicus may not be well known nowadays, but he deserves mention and devotion from all of us Catholic Hipsters.

Born in Turkey, he became Catholic at the age of 40, and went on to be a monk and recluse on Mount Olympus.

He was instrumental is bringing sacred images back to The Church in a time where they were thrown into question.

Stud!

St. Joannicus, pray for us!
