Obscure Saint of the Day: St. Brocard

Welcome to September, everyone!

Today is the feast of St. Brocard!!

Brocard was a Carmelite prior of Mount Carmel.

He was responsible for drawing up the rule for the monks there. Pope Honorius III was upset that the rule was put in place prior to being approved by the Holy See, but he received a vision from the Blessed Virgin Mary, and the Pope ended up confirming the rule based on what he learned in the vision.

St. Brocard died in 1231.

St. Brocard, pray for us.
