Obscure Saint of the Day: St. Modan

We're moving right through the shortest month of the year, loving every minute of the many lesser known saints who have much to offer us in terms of growing in our faith.

Today, we stop to celebrate the feast of St. Modan.

Believe it or not, the above picture is of St. Modan's actual headstone!

Modan was the son of an Irish Chieftan, and was elected an abbot in Scotland against his will.

Preferring to spend his time in prayer and sacrifice, he eventually gave up the position, and became a hermit near Dumbarton.

Modan died in the 6th Century.

St. Modan, pray for us.
